This Bird's Cooked

Finally got to try this tiny food truck in the Gosling Food Park.  Ordered a Nashville hot chicken finger basket and a chicken sandwich, both with fries.

The truck was operated that day by two polite young men.  They opened a bit later than expected.  As with many food trucks, hours are approximate and they sometimes close or leave for a gig.  But I did catch them for lunch on a Saturday after messaging the owner through Google Maps.

The sandwiches and baskets are both based on chicken fingers--you get two on a sandwich.  The "regular" chicken sandwich was pretty basic--fingers with mayo and pickles.  Low in salt, if you're looking for that, but not super flavorful.

The Nashville hot fingers were quite spicy and had that unique hot and barely sweet flavor you're looking for.  The caveat is that they were very greasy--Orange Puddle alert.  Now, I'm not necessarily put off by orange puddles but I'd have to say that this one pushed my limits.  The grease also soaked into most of the fries.  The pictures indicate a dipping sauce but we did not get any.

Kudos to the young men doing the cooking.  The tenders and fries were both cooked exactly right, and that is not easy to do with chicken.  The fries were crisp and well seasoned.  The cook was great, any drawbacks were in the recipes.

This Bird's Cooked does not sell drinks.  You can go in the gas station while you're waiting, or in the evening get something from Da Bar.  I tend to avoid the Gosling Food Park in the evenings now--parking has improved with a paved lot, but the entrance is still very poorly done and when it's busy it can be impossible to navigate.  I wish the vendors, including this one, good luck.
