According to their website, McAlister's Deli has been around since 1989 and has 400 locations, but this is the first time I have encountered one. This location has braved the
Covid-19 pandemic and opened recently. I stopped the other day to give
it a try. They are seating people, and the interior is large enough for
folks to spread out, but I chose takeout. I ordered a Choose 2 and got
a McAlister's club and a Black Angus roast beef spud. Finished with
one of their chocolate chip cookies.
The club sandwich was a good
one--two spears of three-tiered toasted sandwich, with bacon, ham,
turkey, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato, with honey mustard dressing.
A little tricky to handle but it was satisfying.
The potato
just wasn't very appealing. The roast beef didn't have much flavor. Its
juice had soaked into the potato, which you would think would flavor
the potato but not really. The cheese didn't help enough. I would
order something else next time.
The cookie was fine, pretty
standard for places like this that offer one. Some parts had gotten
rather squashed and dense. It was kind of a juicy cookie that pulls
apart rather than a drier one that breaks.
They advertise special tea and lemonade, so I had a mix. Very tasty and went well with the meal.
Not sure why I'd pick this over Potbelly, Which Wich or Subway. It's fine but does not stand out for me in any particular way.
